The 7th Symposium of the Croatian Radiation Protection Association (CRPA) was held in Opatija from 29 to 31 May, 2008. The conference was organized by the Rudjer Bošković Institute and Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health. The chairmen of the Organizing and Scientific Committees were the members of the Rudjer Bošković Institute Željko Grahek and Delko Barišić. For the first time the Symposium was organized together with the Croatian Association for Protection of Non Ionizing Radiation „Albert Einstein“. After the opening of the Symposium both societies listened to the invited lectures held by Ksenija Zahradka, Mirna Šitum and Nikica Gabrić. There were about 60 participants from Croatia and representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina., Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Serbia. 44 lectures were presented, 8 of them within the session General Topics of Interest for radiation Protection, 8 in Radiation dosimetry and Instrumentation, 6 in Biological Effects of Radiation, 8 in Radiation Protection in Medicine, 8 in Radioecology and 8 in section Radon. All papers were published in traditionally yellow proceedings, edited by Delko Barišić, Željko Grahek, Ines Krajcar Bronić and Saveta Miljanić. The Assembly of CRPA was held during the symposium and new members of the Executive Council and the Auditing Committee were elected. All present participants acknowledged the former president Mária Ranogajec Komor for the successful leading of CRPA during two mandates. In this period the number of members of the Association increased and CRPA became an internationally respectable society. This was confirmed by the reward „Honorary Needle“, given by the Austrian Society for Radiation Protection to Maria Ranogajec Komor by the end of 2006. We wish the new president Saveta Miljanić successful work and collaboration with new members of the Executive Committee.
