About Us

Croatian Radiation Protection Association

The Croatian Society for Radiation Protection is a public organization with the purpose of promoting and developing scientific, educational and cultural activities in the field of radiation protection and related sciences.

The company was founded on July 16, 1979 in Zagreb and until 1991 operated within the framework of the Yugoslav Society for Radiation Protection, founded in Portorož.

As an independent company, it was incorporated into the International Radiation Protection Association (IRPA) in 1992. Today (July 15, 2009) it gathers 185 scientists and experts.

Since 2009, the official gazette of HDZZ is the Archive for Occupational Hygiene and Toxicology.

ACTIVITIES

  • Encouragement and support of basic and applied scientific research
  • Encouraging and supporting the application of scientific research results for commercial and non-commercial purposes
  • Initiation and implementation of actions to improve education in primary and secondary schools and colleges in Croatia
  • Popularization of science, its results and applications
  • Validation of scientific methods and ways of thinking

ENCOURAGEMENT OF SCIENTIFIC AND PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

PURPOSE

  • Organization of expert lectures
  • Organization of national symposia on a biennial basis (Zagreb 1992, 1994, 1996 and 1998, Stubičke toplice 2003 and 2005, Opatija 2008, Krk 2011 and 2013, Šibenik 2015)
  • Participation in international meetings and conferences
  • Co-organization of IRPA regional congresses (Austria 1993, Slovenia 1995, Czech Republic 1997, Hungary 1999)
  • Organization of the Regional IRPA Congress on Radiation Protection in Central Europe (Dubrovnik, 2001)
